اگلے دن جب نوکر نے بیل کے بیمار ہونے کی اطلاع دی تو سوداگر مسکرایا اور کہا کہ گدھے کو لے جاؤ۔ آپ کی تجویز کا شکریہ اور مجھے آرام کرنے کا موقع ملا۔ گدھا سارا دن محنت کرتا رہا۔ وہ اس وقت خاموش رہا مگر سوچتا رہا۔ اس نے مجھے اچھا مشورہ دیا۔ 

گدھے اور بیل کا معاملہ دیکھنے گھر پہنچے۔ آج اتفاق سے اس کی بیوی بھی ساتھ تھی۔ اس وقت گدھا بیل سے پوچھ رہا تھا کہ آج کیا کرو گے؟ بیل نے آج کہا۔ میں بھی بیمار ہو جاؤں گا۔ گدھے نے کہا نہیں۔ اتنا غصہ نہ کرو۔ 

مالک کہہ رہا تھا کہ اگر بیل صحت مند نہیں ہے تو اسے ذبح کر دیا جائے گا۔ بیوی نے حیران ہو کر پوچھا کیوں ہنس رہے ہو؟ سوداگر نے کہا کہ مجھے گدھے اور بیل کی بات سن کر ہنسی آگئی۔ اس نے کہا تم بہانے کرتے ہو، اگر تم نے مجھے سچ نہیں بتایا تو میں خود کو مار لوں گی۔

سوداگر نے اسے سمجھانا چاہا لیکن وہ اڑے رہی اور ساتھ ہی وہ رونے لگی۔ مرغ سے کہا کہ تم آج بھی مرغیوں کو ڈانٹ رہے ہو؟ مرغ نے کہا کیوں آج کیا بات ہے؟ مالک مرنے کو تیار ہے۔ 

مرغ نے کہا: مالک بیوقوف ہے جو اپنی بیوی پر قابو نہیں رکھ سکتا۔ دیکھو میں نے پچاس مرغیاں پال رکھی ہیں۔ کرد۔

یہ سن کر مالک نے شکاری کو اٹھایا اور بیوی کو مارنا شروع کر دیا۔
