 ساتھ ہی اس نے ایک بڑا سا ڈنڈا کھڑا کیا۔ مہمان کھانا دیکھ کر یقیناً خوش ہوا، لیکن جب اس نے چھڑی دیکھی تو وہ گھبرا گیا۔ اس نے میزبانوں سے پوچھا کہ تم نے یہ چھڑی کیوں لگائی؟

 اس نے کہا کہ یہ ہماری روایت ہے، بزدل مت بنو اور کھانا شروع کرو۔

 مہمان نیچے اڑ گیا تاکہ پہلے مجھے چھڑی کی حقیقت سے آگاہ کر دے۔

میزبان قسم کھاتا ہے کہ اس سے آپ کو کوئی نقصان نہیں ہوگا، لیکن مہمان نے کھانے سے انکار کردیا۔

 مہمان کے کھانے سے انکار سن کر پورا گاؤں چونک گیا۔

 ایک بوڑھے کو مہمان کے پاس لایا گیا تاکہ وہ چھڑی کی حقیقت بتائے۔ اسے تین اڈوں تک کم کریں۔ کھمبے کو بے ترتیب طور پر تین اڈوں تک کم کر دیا گیا تھا، لیکن مہمان نے پھر بھی کھانے سے انکار کر دیا۔

 وجہ یہ ہے کہ کھمبے کی لمبائی ابھی پانچ بنیادوں پر تھی۔ لاٹھی رکھو۔ اسے نیچے کرو۔

لاٹھی کاٹ کر لاٹھی کے برابر آ گئی۔ اب مہمان کو چھڑی کا جنون تو نہیں تھا لیکن اس کا تجسس یہ رہا کہ اس لاٹھی کی اصل حقیقت کیا ہے؟

 آخر کار ایک بوڑھا آدمی جس کی بھنویں اور پلکیں سفید اور بال سفید تھے، کلب لے کر آیا۔ تاکہ وہ اسے نکال سکیں۔

 کھمبے کی حقیقت جان کر مہمان نے سکون کا سانس لیا، پیٹ بھر کر کھایا اور شہر والوں کا شکریہ ادا کیا اور اپنی راہ لی۔
