 One day King Akbar asked a question in his court which surprised everyone in the court room. When everyone tried to find out, Barbal came in and asked, "What's the matter?" He repeated the question to her.

The question was how many wells are there in the city?

Barbal immediately smiled and went to Akbar. He announced the answer. He said that there are 21,523 wells in the city. When asked how he knew the answer, Barbal replied, "Ask your men to count the number of crows." If there are more, the crows' relatives must have come to them from nearby cities. If there are few, then the crows of our city will definitely come to their relatives who live outside the city. ”Pleased with this answer, Akbar offered Barbal a chain of rubies and pearls.

The moral lesson of the story:

It is as important to have an answer as it is to have an answer.

ایک دن اکبر بادشاہ نے اپنے دربار میں ایک ایسا سوال پوچھا جس نے کمرہ عدالت میں موجود سب کو حیران کر دیا۔ جب سب نے جواب جاننے کی کوشش کی تو بیربل اندر آیا اور پوچھا کہ معاملہ کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے اس سے سوال دہرایا۔

سوال یہ تھا کہ شہر میں کتنے کوے ہیں؟

بیربل فوراً مسکرایا اور اکبر کے پاس گیا۔ اس نے جواب کا اعلان کیا۔ اس نے کہا کہ شہر میں اکیس ہزار پانچ سو تئیس کوے ہیں۔ جب اس سے پوچھا گیا کہ اسے اس کا جواب کیسے معلوم ہوا تو بیربل نے جواب دیا، 

’’اپنے آدمیوں سے کووں کی تعداد گننے کو کہو۔ اگر زیادہ ہیں تو کووں کے رشتہ دار قریبی شہروں سے ان کے پاس ضرور آتے ہوں گے۔ 

اگر کم ہیں تو ہمارے شہر کے کوے اپنے رشتہ داروں کے پاس ضرور آتے ہیں جو شہر سے باہر رہتے ہیں۔‘‘ اس جواب سے خوش ہو کر اکبر نے بیربل کو یاقوت اور موتی کی زنجیر پیش کی۔
