ایک دفعہ ایک شیر جنگل میں سو رہا تھا کہ ایک چوہا محض تفریح کے لیے اس کے جسم کو اوپر نیچے کرنے لگا ۔ اس سے شیر کی نیند میں خلل پڑ گیا اور وہ کافی غصے سے اٹھا ۔ وہ چوہے کو کھانے ہی والا تھا کہ چوہے نے شدت سے شیر سے اسے آزاد کرنے کی درخواست کی ۔ ’’ میں تم سے وعدہ کرتا ہوں کہ اگر تم مجھے بچاتے ہو تو میں تمہاری بہت مدد کروں گا ۔ ‘‘ چوہے کے اعتماد پر شیر ہنسا اور اسے جانے دیا ۔ ایک دن چند شکاری جنگل میں آئے اور شیر کو اپنے ساتھ لے گئے ۔ انہوں نے اسے ایک درخت کے ساتھ باندھ دیا ۔ شیر باہر نکلنے میں تگ و دو کر رہا تھا اور سرگوشی کرنے لگا ۔ جلد ہی ، چوہا گزر گیا اور شیر کو پریشانی میں دیکھا ۔ وہ جلدی سے بھاگا اور شیر کو چھڑانے کے لیے رسیوں پر کاٹتا رہا ۔ دونوں تیزی سے جنگل میں چلے گئے ۔
