Once upon a time there was a king named Midas who did a good deed for a satyr. And then Dionysus, the god of wine, granted him a wish.

For his wish, Midas asked that whatever he touched would become gold. Despite Dionysus' efforts to stop it, Midas pleaded that it was a wonderful wish, and that it was granted.

Excited about his newly acquired powers, Midas began to touch all sorts of things, turning everything into pure gold.

But soon Midas became hungry. When he picked up a piece of food, he found that he could not eat it. It had become gold in his hands.

Hungry, Midas groaned, "I'll be hungry! Maybe that wasn't the best wish!"

Seeing her frustration, Midas's lovely daughter threw her arms around him to comfort him, and she too turned to gold. "The golden touch is not a blessing," cried Midas.

Moral Lesson of the story:

Greed will always lead to decline.
